355, total 1799. Not a great day. Seriously now, how can I save my font choice?

Chapter 2 sucks. Working on Chapter 3. 1,444 words. I will come back to Chapter 2 at a later date and beat it into submission once I have cleaned up my outline.

Okay, so I haven't been sick for THAT long. I fell out of writing. I'm not really sure what caused it -- I'm not always very motivated. I have a lot of excuses, like gaming and other writing projects and this and that, but what it boils down to is that I sit around a lot doing nothing, and I like sitting around doing nothing, and an object at rest tends to stay at rest.

Anyway. I'm writing more today, and I'm going to try and really stick to this schedule.

Last night's writing was on Loading Screen, as I got all pensive about playing World of Warcraft.

Been sick. Writing more today.

630 words yesterday, 2,324 total. I'm not as big a fan of the opening parts of this chapter as I am the re-worked Chapter One, but it's good enough for my purposes right now. The key here is to just write, not stare at it for hours and complain about it.

Definitely getting there.

1,694 words into Chapter Two. I'll update overall word counts at the end of each chapter, because otherwise I'm doing too much math.

At some point I'll probably write something other than a number in here.

Chapter One

7,616 words. 3,127 today on it. Not ALL of it technically written today, some was adapted from an earlier attempt. But that was edited and rewritten in a lot of places. Either way, I'm going to take the credit, so there.

It goes well. Next up, chapter two. Obviously.

January 13

Took the weekend off. Monday, 639, total of 4,489.

Laurell K. Hamilton posts some chapters of her work on her website. She has chapter one of one of her books on there. It was under two thousand words. In flipping through another of her books in the store, I found that she writes chapters that are about six pages in length, so she can have a 55-chapter book. Congratulations, I suppose, but it's hardly impressive.

My outline gives me twenty-one chapters, and assuming 7K words a chapter, that would be 147,000 words for the book. I imagine I'll end up writing more words than that; there are a few chapters that I can't imagine coming in under that projection.

It's kind of nice having a "secret" blog. I don't imagine I'll make any kind of noise about this one.

At some point I'm going to figure out how to save my posting preferences. I have to manually change the font each time. I'm very picky.

I'm very businesslike on my word count updates. This writing thing is pretty important to me, I suppose.

Writing

537, 1502. Slowly but surely.

262 words, 969 total. I blame the Fall From Heaven II mod for Civilization IV, as that's all I wanted to do last night.

I've found that music makes it easier to write. I should try and set up playlists of mood music instead of just grabbing all of my instrumental stuff and putting it on. I should do this one day after I've written, so I'm not doing something about writing instead of writing.

I have a Google doc that I use to keep track of story ideas. I have ten other novel ideas sitting in that document. Only way I'm going to write them is to get to it, therefore, getting to it.

Goal today: 1000. And more FFH2.

Yesterday was my first day writing in 2009. 707 words, 707 total. We're off and running.

The book is fun -- hopefully it'll help reign in my restlessness and stave off any depression about my lethargy.

Nothing particularly insightful today. Nose to the grindstone.
